The band works hard to maintain and expand on their intense relationship with their fanclub, The Despair Faction. Such efforts include offering exclusive advance ticket and merch pre-sales to club members, opening band soundchecks for fanclub attendance, and even bringing in Despair Faction members to provide backing vocals on AFI's current first single off DECEMBERUNDERGROUND, "Miss Murder." "They're not really a fan club per se," says Jade Puget, AFI guitarist. "The Despair Faction was conceived to be more interactive than that, to have more of a direct connection with us and with each other."
