(antiMusic) Sony BMG is taking an unusual step forward in embracing the web. Unlike their contemporaries at Universal that took the boneheaded of step of trying to charge websites to help them promote their music, Sony is utilizing the "promo" value in promotional videos by setting up a new website, Musicbox Video, which offers music videos, interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and other video content of their artists. And instead of trying to milk cash out of this promotional material from websites, they are encouraging websites, blogs, and the sites visitors to link or email links to the material to help spread the word. They've even set up RSS feeds to video junkies to have instant access to updates. To help keep down on the piracy factor they have encoded the videos in Macromedia's Flash format. Now if they would only sign more artists that are worth checking out. Check the site out at the full story link. [see full story for more] - Click here for the Full Story
