The Blackout cruised onto the rock communitys radar a year ago with the fearsome statement of intent that was the cunningly titled six-track Fierce Panda mini-album The Blackout! The Blackout! The Blackout!. Yet they were scarcely nave chancers back then: by the time Fierce Panda had picked up the A&R pace the band had played over 100 live shows; by the time they started working on We Are The Dynamite! they had already shared stages with their fellow newcomer peers of 2006, Gallows and Enter Shikari, as well as Fightstar, Lostprophets, Eighteen Visions, The Used and Kids In Glass Houses.
It is faintly remarkable then that in spite of all that pedigree The Beijing Cocktail is only The Blackout's second ever single, following last year's limited edition CD release Hard Slammin. Happily, as befits a band poised to rocket out of the rock underground The Beijing Cocktail comes armed with a variety of formats and b-sides, including the live favourites Wild Nights & Fist Fights and Go Burn City Hall and a couple of choice cover versions in Limp Bizkit's My Generation (recorded for Kerrang!) and Faith No More's The Gentle Art Of Making Enemies.
