The band is teaming up with Paper Route for the New Deal tour, which kicks off July 6th in Newport, KY and goes through the end of the month.
Fans can submit their tales of financial woe to an email address found on the Audrye Sessions Myspace page. [you'll have to find it as the announcement didn't include the link] The band will select the best stories in each city and give away free tickets- as many as the venue permits- to those people.
The idea for this tour struck a chord with the band. "Art thrives during difficult times...Times of economic crisis, political turmoil and social injustice always spark an artistic movement of some sort," said Alicia Campbell, Audrye Sessions' bass player. "The art of music should always remain accessible, especially in times like these...when it's needed the most."
About Audrye Sessions: Since even before the release of their debut album earlier this year, the band has been touring nonstop, often playing for sold-out crowds. The album, produced by Andrew Scheps (U2, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Johnny Cash) and Matt Radosevich (The Hives, Taking Back Sunday), has garnered critical accolades, among them a 4 star rave review in Alternative Press, and a nod from Billboard who lauded single "Turn Me Off" as "catchy...hit material."
Amidst wrapping up their last tour (with Manchester Orchestra) and hitting the road again this summer, Audrye Sessions found time to host Subterranean on MTV2. The band was recently selected by RollingStone.com as a "Breaking Artist." Their video for "Turn Me Off" was dubbed "Buzzworthy" by MTV and won MTVu's Freshman Video contest. The single has been featured on the CW's popular remake of series 90210.
