Metal Legend Ronnie James Dio Died On Sunday
. His wife and manager Wendy Dio posted the following message of Ronnie's official website, "Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever." Dio is survived by his wife Wendy, son Daniel, grandchildren Julie and Joey, and father Pat. The outpouring from the music community over this sad news has been massive. We have published a few of those tributes in a separate article in Monday's Day in Rock. Instead of a traditional eulogy we have republished a "Legends" feature we originally ran in 2003 that covered Dio's amazing career and contribution to music. You can read that here |
