(Gibson) Dave Grohl is paying homage to his Nirvana roots on the new Foo Fighters album, according to Spin.com. He says that Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic will play bass in a guest appearance on the release, which is being produced by Butch Vig (who also helmed Nirvana's Nevermind).

The Foo Fighters frontman says the album is the group's heaviest to date. "Each song is full on, the whole record is full on," Grohl says. "In the 14 songs, there's not one acoustic guitar, there's not even one in the house."

As Gibson.com previously reported, the Foos are planning a 2011 tour, and have already announced July dates in the U.K. Grohl says fans can expect many more concert announcements: "Basically, 2011, you're not gonna be able to get us out of your hair, that's what we're planning. "I'm excited." - more on this story
