Daft Punk Gave Phoenix Their Radio Premiere

(Radio.com) The first time Phoenix ever heard themselves on the radio, they were hanging out in the living room of lead singer Thomas Mars' parents house in Versailles. A fellow French band making their own radio debut premiered two of their songs for the world to hear.

"It was the guys from Daft Punk who were interviewed by a small radio station," Mars told Radio.com.

It was the electronic duo's very first interview ever with a tiny French radio station. Though no one knows how many people were actually listening that night, Mars ventured to guess it was in "the three digits."

Daft Punk played both songs from Phoenix's first 7-inch, "City Lights" and "Party Time," which later appeared on the band's 2000 debut, United. more on this story
