Josh Homme Nearly Killed By One Tree Hill Star

(Radio.com) During an interview with Radio.com on Monday (June 3), Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme talked at length about the band's new album, Like Clockwork, which is heavily influenced by a recent health scare after routine knee surgery in 2010 resulted in the singer almost dying on the operating table and left him bedridden for months.

Polishing the bugs from his motorcycle helmet, Homme explained why he rode to the interview on his Harley instead of his car, relating a darkly humorous tale about a recent close encounter behind the wheel with an unnamed actress from the popular WB TV series, One Tree Hill, which ended its nine-year run in 2012.

Driving the notoriously narrow Hollywood Hills streets in his prized 1967 Camaro ("the same one I've been driving since I was 14," he boasted), Homme looked up to see a Range Rover barreling towards him. Instead of colliding with the SUV head-on, Homme who was not wearing his seat belt veered from the road only to smash into a fence, behind which there were a group of people having an outdoor party.

After announcing "Sorry I'm late!" to the startled partygoers, Homme climbed out of the damaged vehicle to access the situation. "So I get out [of the car], and there was this guy who kind of looked like Kyle Glass [of Tenacious D] across the street, and he's got a guitar on," Homme explained. "He goes, 'Dude, Queens of the Stone Age just ran through the fence across the street!' And then [the driver of the Range Rover] goes, 'I'm on One Tree Hill!' I go, 'That's not the way to make fans. And by the way, I almost hit one tree on this hill.'" more on this story
