(Radio.com) NBC revealed that they have selected Carrie Underwood to replace Faith Hill on "Waiting All Day for Sunday Night," the song used to open Sunday Night Football. The country superstar will takeover the opening theme starting this fall.

Underwood took to Twitter yesterday (May 7) to share her excitement over the big news. She wrote, " I am so excited to be a part of Sunday Night Football!!! I've been a football fan my entire life...We're going to have so much fun!"

Underwood's debut on the program is slated for the September 8 broadcast, which includes rivals Dallas Cowboys and the New York Giants. She will then continue every Sunday night for the remainder of the 2013 season.

"Waiting All Day for Sunday Night" is a reworked version of Joan Jett's 1988 hit, "I Hate Myself for Loving You." Hill sang the song from 2007 to 2012. See what Faith had to say.
