(Classic Rock) Nine Inch Nails have lost bassist Eric Avery before the revamped band even started touring. But the former Jane's Addiction man admits he's not sure if he's made the right decision.

Trent Reznor announced in February he would be taking a "reinvented" version of NIN on the road, four years after he brought the curtain down on the previous incarnation's career. The lineup includes King Crimson frontman Adrian Belew.

"It's with very mixed emotions I tell you all that I'm pulling out of Nine Inch Nails," Avery says. "It's been a tough call and I don't know if it's the right one. But I really want to focus on my musical life here in Los Angeles, on film work in particular. As the tour dates kept growing I just got overwhelmed."

The bassist had just returned from a year on the road with Garbage, and says he wasn't happy with the concept of spending 18 months on the road with NIN. more on this story
