This year's nominees for Best Original Song--all first timers--include Lana Del Rey for the title track from the Tim Burton film Big Eyes, John Legend and Common for "Glory" from the Martin Luther King biopic film Selma, Patti Smith and Lenny Kaye for "Mercy Is" from the Biblical film, Noah, "Opportunity" a new song written by Sia, Greg Kurstin and Will Gluck, sung by Quvenzhane Wallis in the remake of Annie and Lorde for "Yellow Flicker Beat" from The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1. In the category of Best Original Score from a Motion Picture Trent Reznor picked up a nomination for his Gone Girl score alongside Hans Zimmer for Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, Antonio Sanchez for Birdman, Jóhann Jóhannsson for the Stephen Hawking biopic The Theory of Everything and Alexandre Desplat for The Imitation Game.
