Gregg Allman Biopic Getting Underway

. (hennemusic) Filming for the Gregg Allman biopic, "Midnight Rider", will star February 24 in Savannah, Georgia, according to Variety. The film will be based on Gregg's 2012 biography "My Cross To Bear."

The paper reports Eliza Dushku, Bradley Whitford and Joel David Moore have signed on for the project, joining Tyson Ritter - the lead singer/songwriter of the All American Rejects - who will play a young Gregg Allman, Wyatt Russell as brother Duane, and William Hurt as the present-day version of Allman.

Dushku will play a small town Southern girl who inspires the song "Whipping Post", Whitford will play Allman's current manager Michael Lehman, and Moore will play manager Bill McEuen, who discovered the brothers and brought them to Los Angeles. more on this story
