Beck Turned Down 'Mad Men' Theme Song Gig

(Radio.com) Beck is gearing up to release his 12th studio album, Morning Phase, next week, which you can listen stream right now on NPR. Currently Billboard's cover boy, the singer opened up about the album, his constantly changing sound and some of his insecurities.

When the conversation of his innate musical instinct came up, he admitted that his "instinct has definitely gone awry." "I could give you many examples," he tells Billboard.

As Stereogum ferreted out, One of these moments includes how several years ago he turned down multiple requests to write the theme song for Mad Men.

"It's about ad executives in the '60s? They're going to make a show about that? Really? Um, I don't think so," he remembers saying. "Yeah, just like the best show ever made!" more on this story
