John Fogerty In The Studio CCR 1969 Albums Trifecta Anniversary
. The show sent over these details: It's unimaginable today that any recording artist would be willing or able to release three albums in one calendar year, let alone three multi-million selling hit albums. In 1969 the Northern California musical quartet Creedence Clearwater Revival did just that, first with the January release of the Top 10 album Bayou Country, followed by the # 1 selling album Green River and the Top 5 Willy and the Poor Boys. These three albums in thirteen months would produce seven hit singles, "Proud Mary", "Born on the Bayou", "Bad Moon Rising", "Green River", "Commotion", "Lodi", "Down on the Corner" and "Fortunate Son". The author of all of these hits is none other than singer/songwriter/guitarist John Fogerty, whose lyrics and tunes have had an indelible effect on both rock and country music ever since. Fogerty explains, " 'Green River', like all the songs I wrote for Creedence, draws on my own childhood or life experiences. In other words, what you've been hearing all these years, really, is my life." Stream the episode here.
