(Radio.com) A new teaser trailer gives fans a sneak peek at a new documentary called Heaven Adores You that tackles the life and music of Elliott Smith. The trailer for the film, which makes its debut at the San Francisco International Film Festival next week, features footage and photos of the singer, along with audio from an interview in which Smith talks about not caring about where he fits in musically.

Produced by Kevin Moyer -a high school friend of Smith's- it's the first project to be given access to the late singer's music. According to a press release, the film is an "intimate, meditative inquiry into the life and music" of the late singer, who passed away in 2003 from an apparent suicide.

With the doc, Moyer wanted to take fans on a "visual journey" through the three cities Smith lived in-New York City, Los Angeles and Portland. He also wanted to give an "earnest review of the singer's prolific songwriting and the impact it continues to have on fans, friends, and fellow musicians."
