Charli XCX Teams Up With Simon Le Bon For 'Kingdom'

(Radio.com) We're used to Charli XCX breaking all the rules, but for her latest track "Kingdom" off the Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 soundtrack she's showing a softer, calmer side.

This twinkling track, which as Charli told Radio.com was produced by Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend and inspired by Miley Cyrus, has Charli sweetly summing up Katniss Everdeen's love woes. It sure gets tough choosing between Peeta and Gale. Especially when the Districts are in peril.

Soon enough Duran Duran's Simon Le Bon is joining Charli to make it a sweet, but heart-wrenching duet that has him singing about not being able to change her mind.

As Charli told Radio.com recently, it was Lorde-the curator of the Mockingjay soundtrack-who suggested she team up with Le Bon. Unfortunately the two never shared a studio, but they did share something nearly as cool, at least for anyone who grew up in the internet age.

"[Le Bon] cut his vocal in New York with Rostam, so we were never in the studio together," she says. "But we had an email chain going, which was awesome. He sounds incredible, it's really cool to work with someone who's such a legend."
