Kendrick Lamar Releases New Song
. The track, called "i," just as was reported last week, was produced by Rahki and samples the Isley Brothers track "That Lady." On it, Kendrick makes it clear he's pretty enamored with himself. But this being Kendrick, there's a bigger message to the song, which is, you got to have confidence to get by in this world. The track kicks off with a preacher screaming about Kendrick, "He's not a rapper. He's a writer. He's an author." And this rapper laureate gives us a little taste of growing up in Compton once again, but he can move past it, explaining, "The sky could fall down / The wind could grow now / But the strong in me / I still smile / I love myself."
