Singled Out: Kinky's A Donde Van Los Muertos?
. Today Ulises Lozano from Kinky tells us about the song "A Donde Van Los Muertos?" ("Where do the dead go?") from their brand new MTV Unplugged album and DVD. Here is the story: This song has an interesting story, I started with the idea of the song and the title because I am a big fan of "El Piporro" a Mexican folk ranchero singer that asked "Where do the dead go?" as part of an interlude in a performance I saw. So that gave me the idea to start a song with that question. Then Gil (lead vocal) came to the studio, and he looked at the title of the song and liked it a lot because he had just come back from a funeral, and it was a mere coincidence to find this title on a demo, he got inspired to write about the subject.. Then Gil wrote all the lyrics that talked about everlasting love even after you're dead and always living life to its fullest. This became one of our most well known songs. For the Unplugged album we approached this song with an even more emotional intention. We invited Carla Morrison to add her melancholic sweet voice to record with us to take the song to another level and then it became the first single off of the MTV Unplugged album we just released.
