Spring festival season is heating up across North America and Europe and antiMusic Travel Editor Kevin Wierzbicki today tells us about the upcoming Rock on the Range, Texas Thunder Music Festival, SoulStock 2013, Downtown at Sundown and Le Guess Who? May Day.

Rock on the Range
Columbus, Ohio � May 17-19

Headliners for this three-day blow-out include Korn, Alice in Chains, the Smashing Pumpkins, Soundgarden, Cheap Trick, Bush and Stone Sour. But that's just the beginning; among the 40 or so other scheduled acts are Lamb of God, Bullet For My Valentine, Love and Death, In Flames, Hollywood Undead, the Sword, Volbeat, Skillet, Sevendust and Papa Roach.

The festival will be tickling funny bones this year too; the Old Milwaukee Comedy Tent will present shows by Ari Shafir, Big Jay Oakerson, Bill Arrundale, Rod Paulette, Dan Swartwout and Bill Squire. www.rockontherange.com

Texas Thunder Music Festival
Gardendale, Texas � May 17-19

This festival is a benefit affair to raise money for those affected by the recent fertilizer explosion in West, Texas. Scheduled to appear are Micky and the Motorcars, Charlie Robison, Aaron Watson, the Josh Abbott Band, Whiskey Myers, the Turnpike Troubadours, Wade Bowen, the Randy Rogers Band, Brian Milson, Stoney LaRue, the Casey Donahew Band and numerous others. SoulStock 2013
Decatur, Alabama � May 17-18

SoulStock is a free Christian music festival that'll be held in Decatur's Point Mallard Park. Scheduled to appear are Jessa Anderson, Noah Cleveland, Grammy-winner Laura Story, rapper LP, Paradigm, Christa Jordan, Rush of Fools, Group 1 Crew and Audio Adrenaline. Downtown at Sundown
Lake Charles, Louisiana � May 17, 24, 31 and June 7

It seems like there's always a party going on in Lake Charles and the Downtown at Sundown events are huge block parties that'll take place at the new Streetscape project on Ryan Street. Each week there'll be lots of food and arts and crafts for sale along with music from regional bands. Le Guess Who? May Day
Utrecht, Holland � May 18

If you happen to be headed to Europe in mid-May try to catch this unique festival celebrating indie bands. Among those set to appear are Deerhunter, Unknown Metal Orchestra, DIIV, Thee Oh Sees, King Tuff, Mikal Cronin, Dirty Beaches, ERAAS, Julia Kent, Bass Drum of Death, the Intelligence and many others. The Mini Who? Festival also takes place the same day and features free in-store shows at various venues along the city's Voorstraat.
