Will Hensley not only produced these tracks, but he adds in some mighty fine pedal steel guitar work. Hensley is at his best on "Boomerang," which has a gentle, swaying quality to it. His playing adds full-bodied sonic coloring to and otherwise quiet, acoustic song. "Deathrace" is actually the most country track on the project. It has a relatively driving groove, even though this is not a very beat-minded EP.
Greenwald is a skilled songwriter and Totem is one fine, albeit short, showcase for his abilities.
