Dulcie Taylor - Edges of Silver

by Kevin Wierzbicki

Taylor begins her new five song EP with the blues rocking "Back Beat in His Blood," a somewhat eerie-sounding treatise on how rock 'n' roll and R&B music has influenced the way people think and live. "We Almost Got It Right" is on the other hand a quiet and tender reflection on a failed love affair where Taylor sings in a voice full of wonderment and vulnerability. Not to be confused with the (almost) identically-named song by Allison Moorer, "Soft Place to Fall" is a co-write by Taylor and guitarist George Nauful that finds Taylor working up a loping pop/Americana groove. "Sometimes Love Ain't Enough" is another reflection on a failed relationship, slow and dripping with sorrow, while "Somewhere Bright" looks forward to recovering from such situations, at times recalling Stevie Nicks.
