Paris Hilton Cake Stolen
This isn't really hard hitting news (more a company using a theft to promote their product...) but figured we would pass it along (minus most of the sales pitch): (Submitted) In response to the Lucid Absinthe Paris Hilton Birthday cake being stolen by Paz, a party crasher, President and CEO Jared Gurfein of Viridian Spirits, which owns Lucid absinthe, releases the official statement below.

"It is very unfortunate that someone stole the cake from Paris's birthday party.

"We had the cake designed especially for Paris with Lucid in the batter and a beautiful representation of Lucid's artwork on it, which she had requested to meet the Moulin Rouge theme of the party. more on this story

Lady Gaga's Chart Milestone
(Gibson) Lady Gaga helped Billboard's Hot 100 hit a major milestone this week with the chart's 1,000th chart topper. Gaga's single, "Born This Way," hit #1 this week, joining two of her earlier singles, "Just Dance" and "Poker Face," for that honor.

Gaga told Billboard, "It is a tremendous honor. To be the 1,000th #1 on Billboard... I would be silly not to say this is the greatest honor of my career. I am so humbled and so honored and overwhelmed by the reception to "Born This Way," [it] has been so life-changing for me as an artist, and between Billboard and the international #1s and the radio numbers... I couldn't be more blessed to have the fans that I have."

The Billboard Hot 100 is generally considered to be the standard singles popularity chart in the U.S. The list began on August 4, 1958 with "Poor Little Fool" by Ricky Nelson. more on this story

Billboard Releases Chart App
(PR) Music fans, artists and industry pros can now easily access Billboard's legendary charts in app form on the iPhone. Available today in the iTunes store, the Billboard Chart App features 15 charts, from the Hot 100 and Billboard 200 to genre rankings and ringtones. Users can view 60 years of chart history, search by artist, album or song, view ranking details, listen to 30 seconds of music and make purchases directly through iTunes.

"Our charts are already a huge draw on Billboard.com, whether for music discovery or as a measure of popularity, so it makes sense to apply them to the easy navigation of the iPhone, where users can access them on-the-go," said Editorial Director Bill Werde.

The Billboard Chart App is updated weekly with Billboard's traditional chart release schedule and features each ranking's previous week's position, number of weeks on the chart, and peak chart position. Users can search for specific artists, albums or songs, and search by date. more on this story
