Paul Simon, Edie Brickell Cleared of Disorderly Conduct Charge
(Radio.com) Paul Simon and Edie Brickell will not be charged for disorderly conduct after being arrested at their home last April. CBS News reports that the couple was cleared of the charges when prosecutors announced Tuesday (June 17) they had decided to not pursue the case.

Neither Simon nor Brickell appeared in Norwalk Superior Court to hear that the charges were dropped. The charges will be dropped and erased after 13 months.

The case stems from an incident April 26 between the singers at their home in Connecticut. According to CBS News, Brickell told officers Simon did something to "break her heart," causing the confrontation, which reportedly involved a physical altercation. more on this story

India.Arie Reacts To Beyonce and Jay-Z's Daughter's Hair Backlash
(Radio.com) A Change.org petition surfaced last week with a New York woman upset about the state of Jay Z and Beyonc's daughter Blue Ivy's hair, making a simple request: "comb her hair." Since, the issue has divided much of the Internet including R&B singer India.Arie, who threw herself into the toddler's corner with a Twitlonger post.

"Why does ANYone get the idea that its [sic] ok to make fun of a child?" she asked in a post on the site, which allows users to post messages to their Twitter that are longer than its standard 140 characters. "In public no less?"

The post comes after the petition took off; when Radio.com ran a story on the post last week, it had reached 725 signatures. It has since totaled 5,194. "This celebrity culture that hypnotizes people into thinking a person is LITERALLY NOT REAL because you see them on television is a spell the watcher HIM or HER SELF MUST BREAK," the singer continued. "Blue Ivy is a CHILD and ANYONE thinking to themselves right now: "But she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth so what does it matter what I say" Denying ANY PERSON their humanity , is a GAME we should ALL stop playing."

She added that she believes folks would find issue with Blue Ivy's hair no matter what even if it was "TOO DONE," and that "being gentle with a child's hair is simply appropriate - this goes the same for ALL children." more on this story

Glen Campbell 'Doing Good' But 'Wants to Go Home'
(Radio.com) Since this past April, singer Glen Campbell has been living in a special care facility due to advances in his battle with Alzheimer's disease. He had previously been living with his family, including his wife Kim, at his home in Nashville, but the task of caring for him had become too great for the family to handle alone.

In a recent interview, though, Campbell's daughter Debby (who lives in Arizona) said that, while her dad is "doing good," she feels he his living situation is less than ideal.

"I think my dad deserves better than this," Debby Campbell told Country Weekly. "I'm not saying it's bad by any means, but I don't think he's getting the attention that he needs. If I felt that [his family in Nashville] was spending hours with him and eating meals with him, it would be different. If I lived there, I would want to spend from the time he wakes in the morning until the evening with him . . . But why can't I do that in the comfort of my own home with him instead of flying to Nashville and going to a care facility?"

Debby said that she would prefer to relocate her father to her home in Arizona, but Glen's wife Kim has not yet responded to a recent request. "I want to take on that responsibility," Debby said, adding: "He wants to go home. Numerous times he has told me that." more on this story

Katy Perry Launches New Label With Ferras EP Release
Katy Perry launched her new record label venture with Capitol Records, Metamorphosis Music, this week with the digital release of the self-titled EP from pop singer Ferras.

We were sent these details: Katy and Ferras met in 2007 when both were newly signed artists to Capitol Records. Through the years, their friendship developed, and when Katy was ready to launch Metamorphosis Music, she knew the Jordan-born, L.A.-based singer, songwriter, and musician should be her inaugural artist.

"Ferras is a man with a message, and a unique lyrical way of communicating his perspective on life that makes you feel connected to every note when you listen. 'Speak in Tongues' is a song with raw emotional power that I wish I wrote. I believe he is going to be an important artist to watch unfold. I am SO ecstatic the world gets to hear his music now both online and on tour with me," Katy says of Ferras.

Katy duets with Ferras on one song on the EP (the Greg Wells-produced "Legends Never Die"), and she also served as its executive producer. "Her instincts are really on point," Ferras says. "She is very blunt and doesn't sugar-coat things, which I appreciate. Also, she gave me the freedom to do what I wanted musically and was a natural partner."

50 Cent Addresses Summer Jam Fight, Boxing and More
(Radio.com) 2014 has been a busy year for 50 Cent, with new music from both himself and the newly reformed G-Unit, many other business ventures and no small amount of controversy. The rapper spoke all about it with the Hot Morning Crew and even revealed the release date of the long-awaited Street King Immortal.

Animal Ambition was the first new album from 50 Cent in almost five years, and despite lukewarm sales the entreprenuerial artist isn't sweating any negative feedback. "For the record sales, I know I can't have the success I've had in the past, it's impossible," 50 Cent admitted to the Hot Morning Crew. "This is the warm-up. I'm coming in September [with] my album Street King Immortal.. I put this record out to cut through the cloud of my audience's [perception] of my success. Some people are not conditioned or prepared for success and it's an adjustment. If you leave the environment thinking the exact same way you were in the environment, chances are you won't be successful. You have to make some adjustments as you go, acquiring new information. Being exposed to different situations is what allowed me to continue to do it. But if you don't do it, you forget about it."

This willingness to adapt is something that guided 50 Cent away from his record deal with Interscope, as well as the reunion of G-Unit this year. But the other half of the equation, in addition to adjusting to your environment, is to not second guess the decisions you've made, which is why Fif states he has no real regrets in the business. "I stopped giving them [Interscope Records] my music, because I see how it's actually being treated within their system," he explained. "It changed because Interscope Records shifted and turned into Beats records, while I'm selling SMS Audio. Every artist they put full support behind was somebody who already committed to Beats and was going to be utilized for marketing purposes."

For his part, 50 Cent holds no ill will against Beats or Interscope, and he's happy for the success of Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre with their recent lucrative sale of Beats by Dre to Apple (more on that later this week). Even if the split had been on bad terms, 50 Cent isn't slowing down enough to harbor a grudge. In addition to his two solo albums dropping in 2014, Fif and his crew made waves when G-Unit regrouped, causing a stir of excitement and controversy after the dust-up with Slowbucks on stage at Hot 97′s Summer Jam.

The rapper believes the fight, which may have since sparked a lawsuit, isn't something that should extend to his entire crew, and he places the blame back on the ones directly involved. "They were asking questions, because [Tony Yayo] had done something, when he was starting to say things in response to him having to be responsible for himself, for me not just fixing the problem by saying 'Here's money, just go ahead and take that.' I did that a lot, I enabled them in those way, and now when you see it and you say how do I correct it? If I could allow Yay to say the things that he said, and bring him around, I'd bring Buck around before I did that, because I know Buck. I know he's impulsive and he's high at the same time, he's running around like the real definition of a rock star. I think it was easier to bring Buck than to accept the things I got from Yay, because he was so close that he should actually know better. Banks, he doesn't do anything wrong, he just stops. There's points when you come in you don't know if he likes you or not."

Arctic Monkeys Release 'Snap Out of It' Video
(Radio.com) With their latest videos, the Arctic Monkeys are leaning in to their growing popularity in Hispanic culture. An army of Latino mods sprung up out of the moment when Morrissey switched to a more rockabilly look, and now that Monkeys singer Alex Turner has adapted his own rockabilly stage persona, his Latin heartthrob/machismo idolation status is through the roof. And it's very interesting to see the band acknowledge it with a music video.

In the video for "Snap Out of It," a woman, played by Mexican telenovela (and recently film) star Stephanie Sigman, is having a hard time getting over Turner. She sits in her beautiful, palatial home, watching footage from the studio. It seems like it will be one those "the band didn't have time so we worked in some b-roll" videos that is, until around two minutes into the action.

Suddenly, the old template flips and the band and star are interacting. Even more interestingly, the band is breaking the fourth wall, interacting with the viewer to confound their expectations.

It's a brilliant play by directors Focus Creeps (Garbage, John Cale). Visually, it blurs the lines of reality and a psychotic break, giving a very cinematic view into the mind of a person who is just this side of very, very wrong.

Watch it here.

The Pretty Reckless Release Raunchy 'Messed Up World' Video
(Radio.com) Taylor Momsen not only fronts The Pretty Reckless; she can also add director to her band credits. The singer took the director chair with Jon J for the band's raunchy new video for the band's latest single "Messed Up World."

While the video starts off somewhat innocently with the band surrounding a campfire, things take a quick turn as Momsen shows her idea of what a "Messed Up World" means to her.

Momsen has been teasing the video for days on Twitter, posting screenshots of the song including song lyrics like, "No mountain of money can buy you a soul" and "Is this what you want to see?" held up by two women nude on the beach blanketed with money.

"Messed Up World," which is the edited version of the song "Fed Up World," is The Pretty Reckless' latest single off their 2014 release Going to Hell.

Tech N9ne Discusses Doors Collaboration and Forbes Rich List
(Radio.com) When Forbes released its latest list of hip-hop's 20 wealthiest artists for 2014, many were surprised to see independent Kansas City rapper Tech N9ne sitting pretty at No. 18, having generated $7.5 million over the past year. The business publication was even inspired to feature Tech N9ne in a separate article, coining him "Hip-Hop's Secret Mogul," emphasizing how he was able to achieve such meteoric success without the benefit of a major label behind him.

"I wanted to keep it a secret. When people feel like to won the lottery, they call you," the rapper himself laughed when asked about the Forbes article during a recent interview with Radio.com. "When you make that much money, I guess they have to report it. I'm proud of it. We're steadily on the incline, and it's a blessing to be able to do it independent."

Currently performing across America on the "Independent Grind" tour with a collection of high-profile opening acts including Freddie Gibbs and Krizz Kaliko, Tech N9ne is supporting his latest full-length release of collaborations, Strangeulation, featuring appearances by Serj Tankian of System of a Down and Murs.

It was on 2013 artist album, Something Else, however, when the rapper was able to pull off the once in a lifetime collaboration of working with the surviving members of The Doors on the track "Strange 2013," which utilizes the voice of frontman Jim Morrison with a sample of the Doors' 1967 song, "Strange Days."

"Their music and fusion of sounds is so dark carnival, and that's so me, the killer clown. I've been a fan of their music since way back, since I can't even remember when. I had no idea that I'd ever get the chance to work with them," Tech N9ne remembered of the collaboration. "Right before Ray (Manzarek) passed, we did this. I had no idea that he was sick or anything. I don't even know if he knew. But we were drinking wine and everything in the studio, John Densmore was so laid back, Robby Krieger was cool as hell. I went to go visit Jim Morrison in Paris at the Pre Lachaise Cemetery in 2010. I told him thank you. I had no idea I was going to work with his homeboys. It was a dream come true, because I named my label Strange Music because of their music. back when I was smoking weed hellaI stopped smoking weed in '98, but back then, I was really listening to the Doors, really going in.
