Godsmack
Blues |
Blabbermouth reports: GODSMACK drummer Shannon
Larkin talked with ElectricBasement.com about how the next studio might
sound. "It's going to be just a regular rocking GODSMACK album," he said.
"We have some songs, and if anything, it might be a little more bluesy
on this one. It's still heavy though, and that's the thing, we all grew
up listening to heavy bands like BLACK SABBATH, RUSH, LED ZEPPELIN and
AC/DC, so it's hard rock or heavy metal. [see full story for more]-

Daniel
Johnston Gets Some Help From His Friends |
AP reports: When Nirvana performed "Lithium"
at the 1992 MTV Music Video Awards, Kurt Cobain wore a curious T-shirt
with a frog logo and the question, "Hi, how are you?"
The shirt was designed by a man Cobain
frequently declared his all-time favorite songwriter: Daniel Johnston.
Today, Johnston remains not only an influence musicians wear on their sleeves,
but a kind of godfather of low-fi pop.
His new album features covers of Johnston's
music with contributions from Beck, Tom Waits, the Flaming Lips and many
more plus a second disc of the original recordings. It's titled "The
Late, Great Daniel Johnston," and features his tombstone on the cover.
Of course, the man in a suit looking down
at the grave is Johnston, who is alive and well. [see full story for more]-

Team With Blink-182 for Video |
press release (victory records) reports: Taking
Back Sunday teamed up with Blink 182 guitarist/singer Thomas DeLonge for
the whirlwind filming of the video for This Photograph Is Proof (I Know
You Know) on Wednesday, October 26th. DeLonges debut as a video director
came with more than the usual challenges, as Taking Back Sunday flew in
for less than 24 hours, midway through their North American tour. With
time of the essence, DeLonge kicked into action, presented a meticulous
layout of each shot his concept included plenty of energetic live performance
combined with some memorable imagery a combination of split screen and
live shots. Bassist Matt Rubano commented, The enthusiasm that Tom brought
to this video was amazing. He was able to execute every bit of his treatment
in such a great way. He was totally involved and most importantly he kept
it fun for us the whole time. Having made so many videos himself, he really
knew what he wanted. Tom is also a really fun, positive person to be around."
