MTV reports: Former R.E.M. drummer Bill Berry reunited with his old bandmates over the weekend for an impromptu performance at a friend's wedding reception in Athens, Georgia. No Sanctuary For Workers
BBC reports: UK music management business and record label Sanctuary is to cut its workforce by a quarter after a series of profit warnings following weak trading.

Press Release reports: Swedish Rock innovators OPETH were set to hit the US shores on October 9th in Tempe when the band's plans were derailed by unforeseen circumstances; unfortunately, along with Tempe’s gig went Los Angeles at House Of Blues (10/10 and Fillmore theater in San Francisco on 10/11. FEAR NOT! OPETH are rerouting their tour to add in later SF and LA dates .

Christmas Krall
Press Release reports: Diana Krall, the GRAMMY® winning pianist/singer has just completed her first ever full-length Christmas album. Christmas Songs, Featuring The Clayton/Hamilton Jazz Orchestra is due for release by Verve Records on November 1st.

Co-produced by Krall, with GRAMMY® award winning, Tommy LiPuma, the album features the talents of renowned arranger and bassist John Clayton (Count Basie, Duke Ellington), guitarist Anthony Wilson (Chris Botti, Michael Buble), drummer Jeff Hamilton (Rosemary Clooney, Natalie Cole) and bassist Bob Hurst (The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Saturday Night Live). Johnny Cash Hits CD
Press Release reports: Johnny Cash passed away at age 71 on September 12, 2003 but his legend lives on. The first album to span his entire career, 1955-2003, The Legend Of Johnny Cash (Hip-O/Sony BMG/UMe), released October 25, 2005, will lead into the November 18th premiere of Walk The Line, the 20th Century Fox film based on his early years and starring Joaquin Phoenix and Reese Witherspoon, who perform several of the collection’s songs.

Featuring 21 of his recordings on the Sun, Columbia, Island and American Recordings labels, The Legend Of Johnny Cash is the first compilation to include his work on American. Frank Black Recording
Press Release reports: Following the critical success of this past summer's album "Honeycomb" (Back Porch/EMI) - which Rolling tone called "a mind-blowing collection of tasty, laid-back tunes" - Pixies' front man Frank Black has returned to the studio rejoining producer Jon Tiven and some of the legendary musicians who helped him make "Honeycomb."

Black, "Honeycomb" returnees Steve Cropper, Reggie Young, Spooner Oldham, Anton Fig, Chester Thompson, and David Hood, were joined by Levon Helm, Al Kooper, Ian McLagan, Cheap Trick's Tom Peterson, Simon Kirke from Bad Company, Lyle Workman, Marty Brown and Jack Clement - just to name a few - to record some twenty-five new songs, most of them Frank Black originals. The sessions took place in Nashville, first in October of last year, and most recently last month when Black was in Nashville for the Americana Awards.
