Mafia Law Used Against DJs
MTV reports: In a major development in the Recording Industry Association of America's quest to stop what they believe to be the bootlegging of music, the Atlanta office of mixtape king DJ Drama's Aphilliate Music Group was raided Tuesday by police.

Drama (real name Tyree Simmons) and Aphilliate partner Donald "Don" Cannon were taken into custody along with 17 other individuals Tuesday.

At press time, the pair, who were arrested on felony charges stemming from a magistrate's warrant under the Racketeering Influenced Corrupt Organizations Act, were in Fulton County Superior Court for a bail hearing, which will determine their bond. More than 50,000 mixtapes were seized in the raid…. The investigation began after a city police officer saw "illegal material" being sold in a record store in Morrow in violation of Georgia state law. [This is just highlights from two stories by MTV, you can click full story link to read the latest which also links to the original. Now that the RIAA is using RICO (the Mafia law) it would be interesting to see an ambitious prosecutor turn it around and use it on them]

MySpace Spyware
tinfoilmusic.net reports: MySpace intends to give parents a tool with which they can monitor their childrens activity on the puke-stain of HTML that is called MySpace. The software reports back to the parents things such as the age, location and other identifiable information that child lists in their MySpace account. It also allows the parent to view the child's inbox. The children need not worry, however, as the software does not, however, translate emo-speak into something remotely understandable by parents.[see full story for more... what Tom is a spy?
