TMZ reports: Idol champ Kelly Clarkson has
used her music muscle against her record label head, Clive Davis -- and
won!
Well-connected record company sources tell
TMZ that Clive likes to exercise "creative control" over artist recordings
and wasn't happy at all with Kelly's latest album, "My December." There
are unconfirmed reports Clive wanted to shelve the entire album. TMZ has
confirmed that the 75-year-old music mogul asked for "significant" changes
and wanted to put the breaks on the CD. But Clarkson wasn't having any
of it -- especially since she wrote/co-wrote all the tracks on the record.
Sources tell us that Clarkson stood up
to him and flat out refused to give in, and in the end she got her way.
One source told TMZ there is "deep tension" between Clarkson and Davis,
adding, "She's definitely upset, but she's not a stupid girl." [ see full

the Jurassic label head yelling "more cheese! more cheese!" But now will
the label get behind this CD following this blowout with Jive? Going by
history, not likely but he could have mellowed in his old age just like
his musical signings.]

PR reports: Organizers today announced details
of the Australian curtain-raising show for the 7-continent, 24-hour Live
Earth concerts to be held on 7/7/07. The Australian concert will be staged
at Aussie Stadium in Sydney.The global concert will begin in Sydney and
continue across all 7 continents with concerts in Tokyo, Shanghai, Johannesburg,
London, and Rio de Janeiro before concluding at Giants Stadium in New Jersey.
Live on stage at the Sydney show will be:
Crowded House, Jack Johnson, Wolfmother, John Butler Trio, Missy Higgins,
Eskimo Joe, Sneaky Sound System, Paul Kelly, Ghostwriters, Toni Collette

radio service, Starbucks Entertainment and Concord Music Group, today announced
plans to release a compilation CD featuring music from XM’s popular blues
channel on May 15. The Bluesville CD will feature songs from influential
blues greats Willie Dixon and Memphis Slim, Lightnin’ Hopkins and Sonny
Terry, Odetta, Roosevelt Sykes, Mildred Anderson, Furry Lewis and many
other artists heard on XM’s Bluesville channel (XM 74).
Co-released by XM, Concord Music Group
and Starbucks Entertainment, the Bluesville disc will be available exclusively
at Starbucks Company-operated locations in the U.S. and Canada and online

TMZ reports: A petition is circulating that
begs California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to pardon Paris Hilton.
TMZ placed several calls this morning to the Guv's office. The first person
we spoke with said there were "rumblings" about the petition in the office,
but he wouldn't be more specific.
We then spoke with someone else who said
she'd get back to us. We then asked if that meant the Governor had Paris
plans. She giggled and said, "maybe." We love Kalieforneeya!!! BUT WAIT!
Just as we were about to publish the article (finger literally on the button),
TMZ got a callback from the Guv's Press Secretary, Aaron McLear, who said
that Arnold's office is prepared to give Hilton a fair shake! McLear told
TMZ the office is prepared to treat Hilton's request "no differently than
any other request filed to the Governor's office." McLear added the Governor
only acts in "extraordinary circumstances." We asked if Paris qualified

PR reports: Atmospheric hardcore group Cue
The Doves (Jon Berndtson, ex-The Beautiful Mistake) are currently recording
their sophomore LP, “Stabilizing Vitals,” in Minneapolis, MN. The album
will consist of 10 to 12 songs co-produced/mixed by Berndtson and engineer
James Singer, with mastering done by Brian Johnson (Coldplay, The Wallflowers,
Semisonic). Chris Ruff of Kaddisfly is also scheduled to provide guest
vocals and instrumentation on the record.
Though the band’s 2006 debut “Architectures
of the Atmosphere” was released on Dead Letter Records, Cue The Doves are
currently unsigned and are funding the recording of “Stabilizing Vitals”
themselves. “This is the heaviest and most creative music we’ve made to
date as a band,” Berndtson said of the album. Once it’s finished, the five-piece
plans to independently release the record this summer.

by Firefall Guitarist Jock Bartley, has been receiving great reviews in
the United States, Europe and Australia. Jock Bartley, lead guitarist,
songwriter and leader of '70s U.S. rock sensations Firefall, has released
his debut solo CD entitled Blindside. Bartley is best known for his inspired
work on such classic Firefall hits as "You Are The Woman", "Just Remember
I Love You", "Strange Way", "Cinderella" and "Mexico". Before Firefall
in 1973, Jock played with country rock legend, Gram Parsons and The Fallen
Angels featuring Emmy Lou Harris. Recorded in late 2006, Blindside features
guest appearances by such rock luminaries as:
