Ill Nino Week: Day 5
antiMusic reports: Ill Nino are back with a new album on a new record label. The band are really fired up for this next chapter in their story and with their new album, 'Enigma,' hitting stores this week we asked frontman Cristian Machado to pick his five favorite tracks from the CD and tell us about each one. Here is Cristian with today's song "Me Gusta La Soledad":

"Me Gusta La Soledad" is a love song. Even though in this song I am speaking to a woman, it actually is a story that is told from the female point of view. It is a song of trial, guilt, overcoming, and accepting loneliness.

This girl showed me true spirituality, elemental importance, and universal connection. I was far from perfect but, I still devote my life to her.

You can hear some tracks from the 'Enigma' CD, grab tour dates and more - right here

Kill All Emos?
Blabbermouth reports: According to La Crnica de Hoy, several hundred Mexican heavy metal, "skate punk" and alternative rock fans joined forces last Friday (March 7) in the in the center of Quertaro, Mexico to confront a group of "emos" (followers of the "emo" subculture, which is short for "emotional") who regularly use the city center as a gathering place. Four people were injured and 28 persons were arrested (22 of them minors) when more than a thousand youths clashed in the area of Jardn Guerrero, Plaza de Armas (front of the Government Palace).

Authorities in Mexico are reportedly concerned that similar incidents could happen in other cities, especially Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey.

An Internet campaign is reportedly being waged to launch attacks against "emos" in other parts of the country, with various web postings portraying emos as "homosexuals" who give a "bad image" to tourists who visit their towns. - Watch video footage of the rumble.

NIN Vs Radiohead
Gigwise reports: Trent Reznor has attacked Radiohead over the digital release of 'In Rainbows' calling them "insincere". The main problem he has with 'In Rainbows' is the quality of the download version which he described as "low qulaity".

Speaking to ABC he said: "What they did was a cool thing; I think the way they parlayed it into a marketing gimmick has certainly been shrewd. But if you look at what they did, though, it was very much a bait and switch to get you to pay for a MySpace-quality stream as a way to promote a very traditional record sale."

He added: "There's nothing wrong with that - I but don't see that as a big revolution [that] they're kinda getting credit for. What they did right: they surprised the world with a new record, and it was available digitally first. What they did wrong: by making it such a low quality thing, not even including artwork ... to me that feels insincere." - more on this story

Weezer CD Almost Done
antiMusic reports: Weezer frontman Rivers Cuomo took to the band's website on Tuesday with an exciting announcement for their fans. The new Weezer CD is almost done. Here is what he had to say: "Hey Weezer punks,

"We have one song left to mix and then it's on to mastering. We should be all done very soon. Then we chill for a minute.

"The album will be out in June so with any luck you will hear a new Weezer song on the radio soon. I think I know which song is the first single but I'm not sure so I can't tell you. I'll give you some hints, though. It's one word, starts with a T, ends with an R and contains twelve letters. You should be able to figure it out because you're smart li'l Weezer fans.

"The album is meaty, crunchy and melodic like a good Weezer album should be."

Van Morrison Keeping It Simple
PR reports: Lost Highway Records is proud to release Van Morrison's Keep It Simple available April 1st. Few singers know as many paths to the heart as Van Morrison. The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has spent most of the past five decades seeking and discovering new inroads to that spiritual core.

By the time he rose to the fore of Britain's nascent blues-rock scene as leader of Them, Morrison had already pulled years in the trenches, singing skiffle, country and rhythm and blues tunes with some of Belfast's cagiest combos. He's journeyed far and wide since, but inevitably, the man Bob Geldof called "the one true genius in Irish music" has invariably come back to the philosophy summed up in the title of his new Lost Highway album -- Keep It Simple.

"It's just a song about how everything's gotten now so complex and how things have become so complicated and nothing's easy to do anymore," Morrison says of the title track, a statement of purpose that helps define the disc. "So the song's a kind of prayer or what have you let's hope we can get back to something simple, otherwise, we're screwed."

Dark New Day Calls It A Day?
Metal Underground reports: Dark New Day has called it quits according to a blog posted (which is now deleted from their MySpace) by drummer Will Hunt. The end of the band is apparently due to their label, Warner Bros., not being able to make a timely decision on the band and the release of their new studio album.

The band completed their second album in December and had been reportedly "working on a release date" in January.

The band featured Clint Lowery (guitar; ex-KORN touring member, SEVENDUST) Troy McLawhorn (guitar; EVANESCENCE, ex-DOUBLE DRIVE), Clint's brother Corey Lowery (bass; ex-STEREOMUD, STUCK MOJO) Brett Hestla (vocals; ex-CREED, VIRGOS MERLOT) and Will Hunt (drums; EVANESCENCE, ex-SKRAPE, TOMMY LEE) - more on this story

Arctic Monkeys Working on New CD?
Gigwise reports: If a report in today's Daily Star is to be believed, Arctic Monkeys are planning to release their third album this year.

Alex Turner and co. are apparently busy at work in a London studio recording the follow-up to 'Favourite Worst Nightmare' and are intent on making it a hattrick of albums in just three years.

A 'source' said: "A lot of people were surprised to see Arctics at the Brits as it's usually the kind of event they steer clear of. The reason they went is because they've been down in London working on new material and fancied a night off to relax. - more on this story

Too Many People Willing To Wank For Tickets
NME reports: The Sperm For Tickets project has received an unprecedented number of applications. As previously reported, sperm donors who applied were offered free tickets to any music festival in Europe under the new initiative, apparently to increase Ireland's sperm reserves.

Sperm For Tickets has posted an "urgent" update, stating they have been overwhelmed by applicants. "The purpose of this website was to test market interest through a pilot scheme. Applications for donation packs have far exceed the expectations," they explained.

"Our clients are calling a halt to the invitation to apply for packs and will review the results of the scheme to decide on how to proceed." - more on this story

The comments mean that 'Black Holes & Revelations' could be their swansong album as they look to new ways to distribute their music.

Frontman Matthew Bellamy said: "I like the idea of releasing a series of songs, every month or every couple of months - just putting songs out there. - more on this story

They like the number 2, because that is the number of members they have added to the group and that is also the number of albums they are planning. Here is what they had to say: Today we start packing it in to the studio to begin work on 1 of 2 records.

Biomechanical Reconfigured
BW*BK reports: UK epic thrash metallers BIOMECHANICAL's live set up has now changed into a four piece comprising of vocals, guitar, bass and drums.

Frontman John K. states: "I think it makes sense having one guitarist as on both The Empires Of The Worlds and especially Cannibalised we only had Chris Webb playing the rhythm guitars. So the feel was coming from one guitarist and this will be better reflected now on the live set up."

The decision came after Chris Van Hayden left Biomechanical as the work for his own band CHAOSGENESIS has intensified. John contineus, "It's really unfortunate he left but I completely understand where he is coming from.
