Pop Goes The Chiodos
PR reports: Equal Vision Records is proud to announce the signing of CINEMATIC SUNRISE, the pop-rock sensation side project of Craig Owens and Bradley Bell vocalist and keyboardist (respectively) of the highly acclaimed CHIODOS. Even with all of the success of their first project, Bell explains, "There's no good reason to put a ceiling on your music abilities; spread them as far as you can."

CINEMATIC SUNRISE Craig Owens, vocals; Bradley Bell, keyboards; Bryan Beeler, guitar; Marcus Vankirk, bass; and Dave Shapiro, drums recorded the 6-track set themselves with Beeler in the role of producer/engineer. The debut EP (title TBA) is set for a May 13, 2008 release.

Although CHIODOS' schedule has been extremely hectic since the release of their sophomore record, Bell reassures us that they'll still be making time for touring as CINEMATIC SUNRISE. "Obviously we can't put as much time into it, but we still take it seriously." Shortly after the album's release, the band will start off on a headlining tour which runs May 15th through May 31st. - more on this story

Wallpaper Go West
antiMusic reports: Wallpaper have announced a string of West Coast dates that kick off next week in Sacramento, California and will find them bumping between the state capitol, San Francisco and Los Angeles in March, April and May before wrapping it up where it all began.

Who is Wallpaper? Wallpaper is the enigmatic onstage existence of Oakland music addict Eric Frederic. In another life, he fronts a prog-rock powerhouse (indie stalwarts Facing New York), but in this one, he's a pop-pushing kingpin as interested in art as artifice. The Wallpaper project began in early 2005 as tweaked satire, Frederic funneling his earliest influences (P-Funk, New Jack, East Bay rap) into two EPs of diced, digital beats and lyrics caricaturing the pop vernacular. But as the Hyphy hip-hop movement crested in Frederic's backyard, something changed.

"I saw that classic Bay Area sound resurfacing," he says, "that same psychedelic, drippy, care-free, funky approach that reigned from Sly Stone to Digital Underground."

Statement From The Widow of Bonham's Daniel MacMaster
Blabbermouth reports: The wife of former BONHAM singer Daniel MacMaster, who passed away on Sunday, March 16 at the age of 39, has released the following statement to former M.E.A.T. magazine publisher Drew Masters: "Daniel and I have two wonderful children; our son Kaleb will be 8 and our daughter Aryanna is 6.

"On top of his pneumonia that started to get very bad, he FREAKILY got a strep infection which entered into his blood stream. We all come in contact with this particular germ or virus daily, but it usually presents itself as strep throat and doesn't usually get into your blood stream and viciously attack your body.

"I don't know why this has happened. I don't know why Daniel kept getting cold after cold except to tell you he was a truck driver long hauling and he was a hard worker. When he came home he would work on his music when he was not hanging out with the kids.

"Daniel has a page on iLike and some of his newer songs are there if you would like to listen to them. I feel the world should listen to his beautiful voice. It is what he would have wanted." - more on this story

DIY Working For BoDeans
PR reports: Though the do-it-yourself attitude has long been a staple of the punk community, more and more artists are taking matters into the own hands. With the future of the music industry in question, some bands have decided to do away with signing to a label altogether, and have found just as muchif not moresuccess on their own. As one of America's premier roots-rock groups, the BoDeans are a primary example of this emerging trend. After having released nine records on various major and indie labels over the past 20 years, the Waukesha, WI band decided to form their own label, He & He LP, to put out their new album "Still."

Released on March 4th, "Still" debuted in the Billboard Top 200, and came in at #30 on the Top Independent Albums chart. The record's first single, "Everyday," has also landed in the top 10 on the Americana charts, and is one of the top 3 most-added songs at Triple A radio. Though the BoDeans have seen this kind of success before, they have now reached these numbers independently by taking advantage of the industry's current state. Utilizing partnerships with key retailers like Best Buy and Target, as well as doing a six-week nationwide radio and retail promotion tour, has helped facilitate initial sales of "Still," and an upcoming headlining tour will further support the album.

To ensure the business side of He & He runs smoothly, the BoDeans have enlisted the services of several industry professionals, aiming to maximize "Still's" success. With indie firms like OarFin, Koch, Under The Radar, Songlines and Moxie Star handling various aspects of distribution, radio promotion, publicity and marketing, the labeland thus, the band itselfis able to retain control. After decades of having their career dictated by others, the BoDeans are finally in the driver's seat, and are proving that D.I.Y. isn't just for punks anymore. - more on this story

Beat Union Calling Alt Press for Video Debut
PR reports: Beat Union have premiered the video for "Calling," which is up now on the Alternative Press magazine website. The clip was directed by Hurley Entertainment/Daniel Chesnut (Greeley Estates) and was inspired by the drinking scene in the film Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels. The video has a distinct European film style look and features lots of slow-to-fast motion, upside down camera angles and quick rack focus.

Hailing from Birmingham, England, BEAT UNION--who fuse potent songwriting with an amalgam of influences from The Clash to Elvis Costello and The Jam--are set to release their U.S. debut album DISCONNECTED on April 22 via Science.

Recorded in November 2007 with producer John Feldmann (The Used, Good Charlotte, Story of the Year, The Matches) at the helm, DISCONNECTED is a seamless yet diverse eleven-track debut that celebrates the past as it looks to the future with serious intent. - The video is here

Feral Children Are Coming
PR reports: Feral Children's ferocious live performances have ravaged Seattle, and most recently, lucky throngs of SXSW-goers witnessed them wreak havoc at multiple showcases. They've received endorsements and major airplay from Seattle's influential KEXP and garnered enthusiastic praise from the local press. Their debut LP, SECOND TO THE LAST FRONTIER, will be released July 8 on Sarathan Records.

Described by Seattle's "The Stranger" as "convulsive, percussive, skuzzed-out rock, as primal as a caveman fertility ritual," Feral Children remain true to their moniker over the album's 12 tracks. Self-released locally in 2007, the fivesome's full-length was produced by Scott Colburn (Animal Collective, Arcade Fire), who expertly captured the band's raw sonic outbursts.

Kicking off with the rollicking "Spy/Glass House," the album launches into a frenzy almost right off the bat as a spiky guitar riff collides with vocalist/percussionist Jeff Keenan's howling melodies. The song bursts at the seams with an eerie tension that pervades the entire record. - Click here to hear/download "Spy/Glass House":

Ready Fire Aim Debut
PR reports: rephlektor inkorporated and Expansion Team Records are pleased to announce the May 27 release of Ready Fire Aim's debut CD This Changes Nothing. A collaboration between singer, poet, author, actor and political commentator Sage Rader and DJ/ producer Shaun Morris (AKA Stakka), Ready Fire Aim have come up with a stealth concept album that conjures shades of Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails, The Postal Service and even Pink Floyd, but with a twisted, hyper-processed and hypnotic sound that truly sets them apart. And you can dance to it.

From the creepy opening strains of electric violin squeezed and squelched through a phalanx of effects pedals on "End of Over," to the Reznor-esque clipped beats and crackles of "Lush But Dark," the album is a raucous journey through electronic beat styles and modes of signal manipulation, often harking back to '80s Brit synth pop, but also conjuring the dystopic dreams of a music from the future.
