Manson usually based his albums around a concept and this album is no exceptions. According to a press release, Marilyn Manson takes his inspirations from the glamour of 1930s Hollywood, the grotesque of Vaudeville to the extreme height of cabaret decadence and so-called degenerate art in Weimar Berlin just before its destruction.
Manson says, "This album is about expression. The imagination and personality of the individual cannot be trapped by small minds or defined by any one person. The genius of art finds sanctuary among children and madmen to survive. That, is who we are."
Marilyn takes that further visually with the albums artwork. According to the press release Marilyn Manson has collaborated with renown artist Gottfried Helnwein for the album's controversial artwork which is part of a greater series that will be exhibited in museums all across the world.
Fans looking for more information on the artwork angle and museum exhibits are advised to visit http://www.marilynmanson.com and http://www.helnwein.com for more information.
The first single from the album will be mOBSCENE and another track from the disc, This Is The New s*** is set to be included on The Matrix Reloaded soundtrack.
Manson gave European fans an intimate preview
of the new material with small venue
performances called Grotesque Burlesque.
He plans to bring the Grotesque Burlesque to the U.S. for his homeland
fans in the near future.
Those who dont score tickets to the Grotesque Burlesque, will still be able to catch Manson on this summers Ozzfest.
Here is a small sneak peak at the album artwork, the first video and also the tracklisting.
