The Smoking Gun has uncovered a memo that states allegations that Michael Jackson sexually abused a cancer-stricken boy were "unfounded". The website reports that the memo came out of a confidential investigation by Los Angeles Police Department and the Los Angeles Department of Children & Family Services (DCFS).

According to the Smoking Gun report, an investigation was launched earlier this year after officials were tipped off by a call to the DCFS abuse hotline. A report was called in by an unidentified school official from the Los Angeles Unified School District on February 14th. The caller cited the controversial Martin Bashir documentary "Living with Michael Jackson," that aired the previous week on ABC, where the accuser to current charges against Jackson was shown holding the entertainers hand. The official reportedly alleged "general neglect by mother and sexual abuse by 'an entertainer.

Jackson was not specifically named in the memo; instead he was referred to as the entertainer

A joint probe into the allegation was launched by the LAPD and DCFS, where they interviewed the alleged victim and his family. The Smoking Gun reports that the memo states that when interviewed the boy "denied any form of sexual abuse" by Jackson and said that he never "slept in the same bed as the entertainer."

The memo reportedly states that the alleged victim and his 12-year-old brother expressed "a fondness for the entertainer and stated they enjoyed visiting his home, where they would often ride in the park, play video games, and watch movies."

The 12-year-old brother also denied allegations of sexual abuse by Jackson during these interviews.

The alleged victims older sister also told interviewers that she accompanied the boys on "sleepovers at the entertainers home," but had "never seen anything sexually inappropriate between her brothers and the entertainer."

When the mother was interviewed she reportedly told investigators that she was aware that her son has slept in the same room as the entertainer," but "they did not share a bed. The entertainer would sleep on the floor." She also stated that Jackson was "like a father to the children and a part of her family."

The probe ended after two weeks of investigation by the DCFS and the Los Angeles Police Department. In the memo obtained by the Smoking Gun the findings of the probe concluded that the "investigation by the Sensitive Case Unit concluded the allegations of neglect and sexual abuse to be unfounded both by the LAPD-Wilshire Division and the Department."

According to the Smoking Gun a matter is branded unfounded when officials determine there is no merit to the allegations.
