"He had stopped breathing for a minute and a half and there was no pulse", Sharon Osbourne told the Daily Mirror.
"But thank God the security guard was there to revive him. He resuscitated him and got him breathing and his pulse going again," she said.
Ozzy is currently in the intensive care unit at Wexham Park Hospital following emergency surgery. Sharon is hopeful about Ozzys recovery, "The doctors are hoping there hasn't been any lasting damage but until Ozzy can actually come round and get off the ventilator and talk then will they know.
However, the doctors that are treating Osbourne fear that he may never sing again.
Doctors at Wexham Park Hospital say that Ozzy is making slow progress, but he may never be able to sing again.
World Entertainment News reports that the medical director of the hospital, Dr. Dick Jack says, "He is not physically able to come off the ventilator yet. While he has got a tube in his throat he can't talk but, while awake, he has been making progress with people. His progress will be slow."
When asked if Ozzy will be able to speak once the tube has been removed; Jack responded "we don't know."
Earlier report: Ozzy Osbourne is reportedly in stable condition following a serious accident on an ATV. Osbourne is currently in intensive care and using a ventilator. He underwent emergency surgery following the accident where he suffered from a fractured neck vertebra, eight fractured ribs and a broken collarbone.
A tearful daughter Kelly gave reporters a progress report outside the hospital where her father is being treated.
I want to say that hes stable. He woke up today he couldnt talk because of the tube in his mouth, but he was able to mouth words.
He told us that he loved us.
Kelly found a little humor in her visit with Ozzy. He has been complaining about the nurses, so we know hes all right.
He gave me the thumbs-up and stuck his tongue out at me.
That was it really, he cant really speak because of the tube.
Dr Dick Jack, the medical director of the hospital also spoke with reporters giving a cautious yet optimistic prognosis, He knows where he is, hes comfortable and hes stable. But as I said yesterday, his progress will be slow and we dont expect any major changes until Friday.
In related news, The New York Post is reporting that Sharon Osbourne is taking a leave of absence from her syndicated talk show to be by her husbands side while he recovers.
The producers of the show plan to have guest hosts take over for Sharon. "We're going to have some guest hosts and we'll keep the show in production," said a spokeswoman for Telepictures, which produces "The Sharon Osbourne Show".
Thursdays episode will be hosted by Osbournes
son Jack and he is expected to give a progress report on his fathers condition.
"Jack will address his dad's situation
at the top of the show," said the Telepictures spokeswoman.
