Festival patrons are encouraged to contribute non-perishable food items at the event. Those who donate 10 or more canned goods will receive a free, limited-edition 10,000 Lakes Festival poster. Collection bins will be located just outside the festival field entrance.

In addition to the canned food drive, the 10,000 Lakes Festival will contribute a portion of each ticket sold to benefit the Rex Foundation, a non-profit, charitable organization established in 1983 by friends and members of the Grateful Dead. The Rex Foundation proactively provides extensive community support to creative endeavors in the arts, sciences, and education and has furnished over $7 million in grants to hundreds of organizations since 1984.

Brief Information on the Top 10,000 Lakes Festival Artists:

Widespread Panic: Sextet from Athens, Georgia, formed in 1983, fusing Southern rock influences, described by the Village Voice as “crunching riffs, jazzy filigrees, and swaggering Americana.”

Trey Anastasio: Guitarist, composer, songwriter, Trey Anastasio has a long list of appropriate titles rivaled only by the list of his musical accomplishments including co-founding the seminal improvisational rock band, Phish, in 1983.

The Black Crowes: At the time of their 1990 debut, the kind of rock & roll the Black Crowes specialize in was out of style. Vocalist Chris Robinson appropriates the sound and style of vintage blues vocals while guitarist Rich Robinson fuses classic rock without slavishly imitating their influences. The multi-platinum selling group is back from a hiatus with a full tour schedule and intense energy.

Les Claypool: The most original rock bassist to come along in the '90s was unquestionably Primus' Les Claypool. With his oddball sense of humor and funky playing, Claypool took his varied musical influences and created an invigorating and completely inventive style.

G. Love & Special Sauce: G. Love and Special Sauce take their cues from many musicians including John Lee Hooker, Bob Dylan and De La Soul.

Rusted Root: The Pittsburgh sextet evolved from a single cell into a musical organism of quintessential essence, monumental substance and vast appeal. Its fourth record, Welcome to My Party, is a further, astonishing progression; a distillation of chops and songwriting finesse revealing a distinct musical force.

Dark Star Orchestra: Each night, the Chicago-based band decides on performing one show from the 2,500 that the Grateful Dead performed during their 30 year tenure as fathers of improvisational rock. As a chamber orchestra interprets Bach or Mozart, Dark Star Orchestra presents the complete original Grateful Dead set list, song by song, and in order, recreating historic music with uncanny faithful interpretation.

Particle: Since forming in the fall of 2000, Particle has enjoyed a transcendental rise on the national music scene. The instrumental quartet’s trademark ‘funktronic’ sounds combine elements of electronica, funk, and good ol’ rock and roll.

Everyone Orchestra feat. Steve Kimock: The Everyone Orchestra is a revolving cast of stellar musicians who come together to showcase their craft, improvise, and raise funds and awareness for environmental and philanthropic projects. Legendary guitarist Steve Kimock joins the improvisational mix at the 10,000 Lakes Festival.

Sound Tribe Sector 9 (STS9): STS9 blends layered sonic landscapes, developed melodic movements, and deep groove sensibilities. The music is simultaneously progressive and retrospective, drawing from the core creative values of the jazz greats and the funk-soul innovators while utilizing modern advancements in music production.

The Jazz Mandolin Project: Jamie Masefield formed the group of ever-changing musicians to give himself the opportunity to do what he loved, to play jazz on the mandolin. The premise was that it wouldn’t be looked at as a strict jazz gig but a session where the musicians would play whatever moved them, no matter what genre it took them to.

Cyro Baptista & Beat The Donkey: Beat the Donkey is a high energy musical carnival of untamed drummers and dizzying dancers performing with jaw dropping precision including individuals from the U.S., Israel, Europe, Asia, and Brazil. The New York Times has called it “wild, vivid entertainment” and Time Out New York noted it as “a most unforgettable spectacle.”

Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey: Hailing from Tulsa, Oklahoma, Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey’s career has spanned over a decade, while a relentless touring schedule has earned them one of the youngest and most devout audiences in improvisational music, while focusing their ability to improvise as a unit to near telepathic proportions.

MOFRO: Rootsy southern soul blends with rock ‘n’ roll when MOFRO takes the stage. Melding diverse styles with a traditional Southern feel, many of the band's songs revolve around environmental issues facing Florida's wildlife and ecology.
