Mailbag: Claymates Vs Ozzfest & DiR

(Day in Rock) Say what you may about Clay Aiken fans but they are passionate about their favorite karaoke contest runner-up. Fans that got the Ozzfest joke are a bit upset with us for posting a clarification for those clueless ones that thought it was legit and yes some did (a dozen or so emailed us to find out where we heard this and one of the zillion Clay fan boards had a serious discussion on why this made sense because Clay is trying to do new things). But in respect to those Claymates with a sense of humor, yes we do realize that only a few thought that posting was serious but it was funny enough for us to post about and clarify for the clueless ones. In that same spirit, here are portions of some of the many hatemail responses we received from Claymates: "Of course this joke of yours was reported on Aiken's message boards, just like any article that mentiones him would be. And if you actually read what was said there, instead of relying on third-hand reports, you would see that no one took it seriously. Even though Ozzfest could use a performer who sings in tune instead of screaming or mumbling the songs like most of their acts do. And it would have sold a lot more tickets, too." Another Claymate wrote "those dirtbags only wish they could have a real star at ozzFest." Our favorite was this ironic hatemail "those metal f*gs would be lucky to have Clay play there stupid concert". Now who wouldn't buy a ticket to see the crowd reaction to a Clay Aiken set at Ozzfest! Hell that would be Pay-Per-View material. Sharon don't disappoint us, set it up! Of course, this would only work at the first show. As for the Claymates, keep the hate coming! We're having a blast.
