Zeppelin To Announce Reunion Wed?

09/10/07
.
(antiMusic) The rumor of a Led Zeppelin reunion just got a major boost with reports that the band was spotted touring the venue, dropping a hint online and will hold a press conference on Wed where they are expected to announce their imminent reunion.

It may just be a case of reading a lot more into things then are really there but Billboard issued a report that a date posted on Ledzeppelin.com may have something to with the reunion rumors. They also are the only ones reporting that Led Zeppelin are going to hold a press conference on Wednesday in London and hinted that it might have something to do with the reunion rumors swirling around the band. As if that wasn't enough fuel for the fire, they also report that the band was spotted touring the O2 arena (the rumored site of the reunion) during recent a Prince show at the venue.

If you visit Ledzeppelin.com you will now be greeted with four member symbols made famous on the Led Zeppelin IV album cover but directly beneath the symbols 11.13.07 is printed. This may or may not have anything to do with a reunion as that is the date that "Mothership," the new 24 track compilation album will be released by Atlantic/Rhino.

Last week MetalSucks quoted an unnamed source as saying that the band had put a hold on the arena for November 26th so the website date and this rumor don't match up. And we also reported last week that Robert Plant supposedly confirmed to a fan on the street that the band were getting back together. Here is that report for those that missed it.

Could the long rumored Led Zeppelin reunion really be happening? First it was an anonymous source saying that Plant, Page, and Jones were in talks for a one-off reunion show and now apparently Robert Plant is talking to random people on the street and confirming the reunion. Of course another anonymous source now claims to also know the date of such a reunion.

In a story that's a bit hard to believe, someone emailed NME.com saying that he or she spoke to Robert Plant in London on Wednesday and the Led Zeppelin frontman confirmed the reunion plans and said that he was on his way to a meeting with Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones.

The fan reportedly walked up to Plant and asked him about the reunion and maybe Robert has been on a deserted island this past week as the rumor mill has been churning at full speed because he reportedly asked the fan, “How did you find out about this?” And even more unbelievable he supposedly told the fan, “Well we’ve got a band meeting about it this afternoon about it. There’s not a lot to work out as it’s only going to be one-off gig.”

Of course, anyone can email the press and claim anything they want so take this news with a pound of salt. We thought about emailing NME and telling them we just played poker with Elvis and Axl Rose at a bar in Tucson and Axl told us that the new album will be out on Christmas and it will include duet with Elvis. Who knows? Maybe they'll believe us?
