Back in 1998, Billy Morrison (The Cult, Circus Diablo, Camp Freddy), fronted U.K. rock band Stimulator with guitarist Terry Warville and drummer Jason Bowld (Pitchshifter). The band signed a large deal with Geffen Records in the U.S. and recorded their debut album in Los Angeles. Riding high on a wave of great press and even greater expectation, they could not have imagined that Geffen Records would be part of the first big music business merger (with Seagrams), and that their record would never be released.
10 years later, Billy now lives in Los Angeles, has played bass in THE CULT, formed CAMP FREDDY (with Dave Navarro, Donovan Leitch, Chris Chaney and Matt Sorum), CIRCUS DIABLO (with Billy Duffy, Ricky Warwick and Brett Scallions) acts, writes, hosts a radio showand has finally decided to release those masters as a Billy Morrison solo album.
After releasing the Circus Diablo album on Koch Records last year, and spending the summer on the Ozzfest, Billy entered 2008 with some thoughts about a solo album. Currently holed up in a studio in Los Angeles recording brand new material for release later in 2008, he felt that the time was right to resurrect the old Stimulator masters and put the album out, as it was recorded ten years ago. Forming his own label, King Mob Music, Billy has not retouched or remixed the Stimulator album in any way and is releasing it as a stop gap between the Diablo album and his forthcoming solo material.
The tracks are still as violent and outspoken as they were intended to sound back in 1998. We hope you agree. Released on iTunes worldwide on Tuesday. Limited edition hard copy CDs are available from
