I wrote Counting Zeros at the height of my frustration with our involvement in Iraq. I was seeing daily reports on the cost of the war, and the corporations that were profiting from it, and I was angry that our democracy had become enslaved to these powers.
Now we're in the middle of an economic meltdown, and as the greed and corruption are exposed, we're watching the same thing happening again. The very people that have brought us to ruin are collecting multi-million dollar bonuses for their actions. While Americans are losing their homes and jobs, these criminals are counting zeros.
