To celebrate the album's release, live dates have just been confirmed for Los Angeles and New York City. These will be the first American shows with guitarist Johnny Marr added to the line-up. A full US tour will be announced soon but until then coastal dates are at the end of this report.
Ignore the Ignorant will be sold in two configurations, a standard version and a deluxe edition - which will be available exclusively through iTunes. The deluxe version includes 20 live bonus tracks recorded at The Ritz nightclub in Manchester, England on February 2009. Only those who pre-order the deluxe version will receive all 20 tracks. The deluxe version available on September 8th will feature 14 live bonus tracks recorded at The Ritz.
Ignore the Ignorant is the first full album The Cribs, who are brothers Gary Jarman (vocals/bass), Ryan Jarman (guitar/vocals), and Ross Jarman (drums), have made with ex-Smiths' guitarist Johnny Marr, who became a formal member of the group in February 2008. As Johnny has said "The Cribs possess the brains of The Buzzcocks, the guts of Nirvana, the fizz of Ramones."
The band's previous albums include their 2007 Warner Bros. Records debut, Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever, 2005's The New Fellas and their 2004 self-titled debut. Ignore the Ignorant is already garnering critically romantic raves in the UK. MOJO Magazine gushed: "The Cribs triumphthey sound loud, vivid and dynamic, like a rock 'n' roll band should, grasping for big moments, dramatic crescendos and grand tunefulness."
The Cribs recorded Ignore the Ignorant in Los Angeles with producer Nick Launay, who has worked with such artists as Yeah Yeah Yeah's, Arcade Fire, Supergrass and Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, among many others.
