Having grown together musically for several years, The Jakes self- released the Shake My Hand EP in 2008. They have shared bills with The Whigs, Ghostland Observatory and Kings of Leon.
With a rapidly growing fanbase (over 1 million plays on MySpace), The Jakes stand to make a big splash. Frontman Sameer Gadhia says, "We are extremely excited to join the Roadrunner family. It feels great to have such a comfortable label home, a group of people that are as equally excited about our music as we are. We have been heavily focused on writing new material and, are looking forward to recording and releasing our debut album and building on the success and experiences we've had over the last year."
Roadrunner Records Director of A&R Stefan Max brought The Jakes to the label. He says, Im extremely excited to welcome The Jakes to the ever diversifying Roadrunner Records family. Were all very eager to help the band build on their already impressive success, and make some amazing records.
The band will be recording their debut album this fall. Release is planned for 2010.
