(antiMusic) A Bay Area museum is getting a boost from some local megastars... Metallica, who plan to stage a benefit concert for the museum. Here is part of the Contra Costa Times report: In a decision sure to reverberate through the local music community, the Marin History Museum has pulled out of a highly touted deal to establish a "Marin Rocks" exhibit in a downtown San Rafael storefront owned by the Masonic Lodge.

It's now unclear where the rock history exhibit will end up, but history museum officials have promised to open it in another location on San Rafael's Fourth Street next spring.

And, in a major boost for the "Marin Rocks" project, James Hetfield, frontman and co-founder of Metallica, has announced that the superstar band will play a benefit concert for the Marin History Museum in September. It would be the first show in Marin by the heavy metal supergroup. - more on this story
