American Idol's Scott MacIntyre Set Album Release and Idol Return

03/10/2010
.
A year after being a finalist on the eighth season of "American Idol," Scott MacIntyre will release his first post Idol" CD, Heartstrings, on March 11. The album will be available on iTunes and at his website.

The release date coincides with his return to "American Idol" on the March 11th results show, when he will take the stage to perform on the same evening that the Season 9 "Top 12" are revealed.

The first visually impaired finalist on "American Idol," MacIntyre was called "an inspiration to the entire world through your commitment, through your talent" by former judge Paula Abdul. All of his talents – classically trained pianist, award-winning singer, composer and musician – come to the fore on Heartstrings, which features a dozen original tracks: from the upbeat pop/rock of "Stars," "The Good, the Bad, the Ugly" and its lead single, "Heartstrings," to intimate acoustic ballads like "Autumn Leaves" and "The Sun Still Shines," to the humorous romp "I'll Take Tom (MySpace Breakup Song)." MacIntyre's contagious spirit of optimism and heartfelt lyrics take the listener on an emotional journey of love and yearning, hardship and hope, from the perspective of "someone who deeply understands the challenge of overcoming enormous adversity."

Born in Redondo Beach, California—and having lived in Toronto, Canada; London, England; and now Scottsdale, Arizona—MacIntyre has been visually impaired since birth and started playing piano by ear at age three. At fourteen, he was admitted into Arizona State University's Barrett Honors College and Herberger College of Fine Arts, graduating summa cum laude at nineteen, and the following year receiving a masters degree in music at Royal Holloway, University of London and the Royal College of Music as a Marshall and Fulbright scholar. Simultaneously, Scott battled undiagnosed kidney failure for two years and, after ten months on dialysis, had a successful kidney transplant. Thankful for a second chance at life he embarked on his "American Idol" journey, making it to the top eight on the show and hitting the road across North America with the 50-city American Idols Live! Tour 2009. Since wrapping the "Idol" tour, Scott continues to perform and speak to audiences throughout North America and beyond.

Heartstrings is MacIntyre's seventh independently released full-length studio album. Visit him online at
