(Rock AAA) Former Iron Maiden frontman Paul Di'Anno has been warned he is facing jail after pleading guilty to falsely claiming benefits for more than 45,000.

The metal legend had claimed Sciatica nerve damage in his back had left him physically unfit to work and as a result he pocketed incapacity benefit, housing benefit and council tax assistance between 2002 and 2008.

But the 52-year-old was spotted by Department of Work and Pensions investigators leaping around on stage in a YouTube video during a live show in 2006. Di'Anno, real name Paul Andrews, had continued to perform on stage and release records and yesterday he admitted eight counts of benefit fraud at Salisbury Crown Court to the tune of 45,479.
