Jeff Beck and Jarvis Cocker To Receive Honorary Degrees

(Gibson) Pulp's Jarvis Cocker and Jeff Beck will receive honorary degrees from the University of the Arts London. According to the Telegraph, the ceremony will take place at the Royal Festival Hall in London on July 20.

Artist Anthony Eyton, architect Zaha Hadid, Whitechapel Art Gallery director Iwona Blazwick, BBC News director Helen Boaden and Cheek By Jowl Theatre founder Declan Donnellan will also be honored.

Before finding pop success, Cocker was a student at Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, part of the University of the Arts London, and namechecked his college in the song "Common People." more on this story
