Former Yngwie Malmsteen Singers Return With New Projects
. Jeff Scott Soto, who appeared on Yngwie's first two solo releases, Rising Force and Marching Out, says he is two vocals tracks away from wrapping up work on Damage Control, which he describes as combining the best elements of his first two Frontiers Records. Soto's bandmates and cowriters on the album are Joel Hoekstra of Rock of Ages/Night Ranger, and Jamie Borger of Talisman/Treat. The album is due in March 2012 on Frontiers, with a full European and South American tour and possible U.S. dates to follow. Meanwhile, Joe Lynn Turner, who appeared on Malmsteen's Odyssey album in 1988, is putting the finishing touches on a new Sunstorm album to be called Emotional Fire. The first two Sunstorm albums were inspired by the AOR catalogue of songs Turner penned for himself or other artists of the genre, but Emotional Fire is inspired by Turner's numerous 1980s background vocal sessions for other artists. The album is due in winter 2012. more on this story Gibson.com is an official news provider for the Day in Rock.
