Vince Montana Jr. Walk of Fame Plans Go Forward Despite His Death
. The PMA had been making arrangements as late as last week to induct Montana, the spiritual father and the MFSB Sound of Philadelphia backing band, this fall. He now will be inducted posthumously, along with other honorees to be announced in ceremonies on Broad Street. "In the midst of planning his October induction into the Walk of Fame, it is with deep sympathy that Philadelphia Music Alliance sends the Vincent Montana family its sincere regrets on the news of his passing," said PMA Chairman Joseph Tarsia. "Musician, arranger, producer, and friend, Vince was an intricate part of what was known around the world as the 'Philadelphia Sound.' Vince Montana Jr. will be sorely missed by the Philadelphia music community and music lovers around the world." Philadelphia Music Alliance website.
