(Radio.com) Recently named Rapper of the Year by SPIN Magazine, Chance the Rapper visited The Arsenio Hall Show last Thursday night (December 19) for his first late-night TV performance.

Before he took the stage for his soulful "Chain Smoker," he sat down with Arsenio Hall and talked about issues his city of Chicago is facing and why he wants to start a Rapper's Union in 2014.

"Chicago's music scene is rich, going all the way back to the Blues Movement, the Jazz Movement," he said. "There's the crucial conflicts. There's so much dope Chicago music I can't even begin to start."

Proud of his home base, Hall brought up the gun violence in Chicago constantly being in the news. "I'm really hoping the gun related deaths toll continues to lower. In 2013, we had a lower murder rate than 2012," he said, adding that the city should "stop worrying about cliques and gangs, all of it" and instead focus on positivity. more on this story
