Jennifer Hudson May Become American Idol Judge

Jennifer Hudson may be returning to American Idol as a judge. It appears that the producers of American Idol may be looking to the past of the show to find new judges to revive the singing competition show after it suffered a massive drop in ratings this past season.

Both the Hollywood Reporter and The Wrap are reporting that sources told them that Jennifer Hudson, who was a previous contestant on the show, is currently in negotiations to return to the show as one of the judges.

"She got the offer and her reps are currently negotiating with [the show's production company] Fremantle," a source told TheWrap. But fans may not know for as long as six months if a deal is struck.

While Hudson's future with the show is still unknown, the original American Idol champion Kelly Clarkson's representative has put an end to rumors that Clarkson would be joining the show as a judge. Her rep told The Hollywood Reporter, "Kelly will not be a judge on Idol."

Clarkson was one of the names rumored for an alleged alumni judging panel with past contestants returning to the show as judges. Other names included in the rumor were Clay Aiken and Adam Lambert. A source close to Lambert has said that the singer had not been approached about returning to the show, according to Billboard.

On the other hand, Billboard reports that representatives for Hudson and for Fox would not comment on the new reports about her returning to the show.
