(Gibson) Don't mess with soccer fans. Chad Smith got that message loud and clear last week. The Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer did a drum clinic at the Hard Rock Caf in Belo Horizonte, Brazil on November 7. Smith, always the jokester, pretended to wipe his backside with a Flamengo soccer club jersey, and the incident was caught on video.

Flamengo fans were outraged when they saw the video and Smith even received death threats over the prank. Chad ended up tweeting an apology to the soccer fans: "I want to apologize for my inappropriate antics at the drum clinic,my joke about team rivalries went too far. Flamenco fans...I'm sorry."

In the end, Smith more than made up for his misstep. During a concert in Rio De Janeiro on November 9 Smith wore a Flamengo shirt for the entire show. He also visited a hotel where he signed autographs for Flamengo fans and presented the soccer team's players with Red Hot Chili Peppers t-shirts. more on this story
