(Radio.com) He may or may not have felt it in his bones - Dan Reynolds is receiving a songwriting award. The Imagine Dragons frontman will receive an honor at the upcoming Songwriters Hall of Fame gala in New York, Billboard reports. Reynolds is being awarded the Hal David Starlight Award, which recognizes younger songwriters whose output has made major impacts in popular music.

Those paying attention to Imagine Dragons' meteoric rise shouldn't find the news too surprising. After breaking onto the scene with debut single "It's Time," the Las Vegas rockers scored one of 2013′s monster hits with "Radioactive," which peaked at No. 3 on the Hot 100 and reigned on both rock and alternative charts, actually breaking the record for longest time spent atop the Billboard Rock Songs chart with 23 weeks at the peak.

"Radioactive" has also shown a startling amount of longevity. The song is still on the Hot 100, having been there for 84 weeks total - an all-time record. more on this story
