On Wednesday Cash Cash Blur The Lines Between Rock and EDM was a top story. Here is the recap: (Radio.com) New Jersey natives Jean Paul Makhlouf, Sam Frisch and Alex Luke Makhlouf, from Cash Cash teamed up with Staten Island, NY's own Bebe Rexha in July 2013 to give us one of the biggest songs of this winter, "Take Me Home." When the guys sat down with 92.3 NOW's DJ Toro, they shed some light on how they got to where they are and where they're headed next.
"We were a group around 2008
with live instruments
but still very electronic with synths. We slowly evolved and got rid of the drums, got rid of the guitars and focused on being producers for a minute. It's cool that producers can be artists again thanks to guys like Calvin Harris," said Makhlouf.
As their style evolved from a rock sound to EDM, things didn't all happen overnight for Cash Cash. "You got to be out there on the front lines, you can't just be sitting in your basement, you got to be out there playing gigs and you got to see what works in the clubs. A lot of times you'll do something in the studio and you'll think it sounds good and then you play it in the club and there's no reaction," said Makhlouf.
Their song "Take Me Home" was, however, a hit within four months of being released and took a lot less time to create. "That one came together really quick, we met up with Bebe, we come from the same community with a lot of the same friends. Real quick, two days, Boom! It sounded good right out the gate," said Makhlouf. - more on this story
